MANILA, Philippines - Just 2 days after 7-year-old Stephanie Nicole Ella succumbed to her stray bullet wound, the country is rocked by another tragic incident of gun violence.
A man went on a shooting spree Friday morning, killing at least 7 of his neighbors, mostly children, in Kawit, Cavite.
The shooter, identified as Ronald Bae, was shot dead by responding policemen.
Eight others were wounded in Bae's shooting rampage, some of them still in critical condition.
One of the fatalities, a child, was a goddaughter of the shooter.
Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla said a search is underway for the shooter's alleged accomplice, a certain John Paul.
A P100,000 bounty has been offered for John Paul's capture.
It remains unclear why Bae began shooting at his neighbors.
However, there are reports that Bae had marital problems and may have also been using illegal drugs.
