A police asset was shot dead in Makati City before dawn on Thursday.

The victim, 30-year-old Rodolfo Benitez Jr., was shot dead at the corner of Maya and Sweet Orange Street by an unknown assailant at around 1 a.m.

Benitez sustained gunshot wounds to the head and body.

Police are eyeing Benitez's role as an illegal drugs asset as the reason behind the killing.
