Cops round up 'Gagamba Boys'
MANILA, Philippines - The police and the Department of Social Welfare and Development joined forces to clear the streets of Pasay City of so-called "Gagamba Boys."
Authorities earlier warned motorists coming from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to watch out for the group.
Police issued the advisory after a series of pictures documenting the modus operandi of the group surfaced on the Internet.
The group usually targets vehicles with open windows.
A "gagamba boy" would force his arm inside the vehicle and ask the passengers for money. He would refuse to yield even when the vehicle already starts moving.
Theft incidents involving the Gagamba Boys have been reported.
