MANILA, Philippines - A red alert status has been raised at the La Mesa Dam in Quezon City Monday as the water level rose near its spilling level.
La Mesa Dam Headworks Manager Engr. Teddy Angeles said as of 4 a.m., the dam’s water level has reached 79.72 meters, or 43 centimeters below its spilling level of 80.15 meters.
Angeles added that since Friday, they have a recorded a total increase in water level of 30 centimeters due to heavy rains brought by the inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ).
He said the dam management expects for the water level to decrease as the weather in Metro Manila continues to improve. - Report from Dennis Datu, dzMM
