MANILA, Philippines - Yet another San Beda 1st year law student has died in alleged hazing rites of a college fraternity.
Victim Marc Andrei Marcos first told his relatives that he was working on a school project last Saturday. Marcos failed to come home and his cell phone could not be contacted.
At 2 a.m. Monday, he was rushed to the DLSU-Dasmariñas hospital where he died.
Police have arrested a woman who brought the victim to the hospital.
They said Marcos had various bruises all over his body, leading them to believe that he died during a fraternity hazing.
His uncle, Atty. Jose Vener Ibarra, said: "Let's just say yung arms at legs niya kulay ube. Yan ang sinasabi ko sa gumawa sa kaniya - kulay ube."
He added: "No one has to suffer this from people that they will call brothers. Wala. Walang dapat mamatay nang ganun. Kung sino man kayo hahanapin namin kayo. I pray that the criminal justice system will get you first."
The Lex Leonum Fraternity has been suspected of being behind Marcos' hazing death.
Social networking sites were also abuzz over the hazing death, which comes just 5 months after the death of San Beda law freshman Marvin Reglos allegedly at the hands of Lambda Rho Beta fratmen.
"The administration has already implemented several rules and regulations so that these fraternities will disband but then again, we seem to have underestimated these fraternities," said San Beda law student government president Aubin Arn Nieva.
