Berated MMDA traffic aide gets promoted
Saturnino Fabros, the Metropolitan Manila Development (MMDA) traffic enforcer who was berated and hit by motorist Robert Blair Carabuena, has been promoted.
MMDA Traffic Discipline Office chief Yves Gonzalez said Fabros was recommended for promotion from his present rank of Traffic Constable 1 to Traffic Constable 2.
This means he will get a much-needed pay hike. He was also allowed to go on leave with pay so he can rest.
Fabros has been working with the MMDA for more than a dozen years.
After losing his wife in 2010, he has been struggling to take care of his six children on his meager salary as a traffic enforcer.
Today, the Fabros children are afraid Carabuena might get back at their father for the criticisms he received because of the incident.
Fabros asserted he was just doing his job when Carabuena attacked him on August 11.
Fabros, who gained public sympathy because of the incident, is grateful to all those who extended assistance upon learning of his plight.
He says he will continue to work as a traffic enforcer despite the incident.
