10-foot wall hides Caloocan phone fraud ring
MANILA, Philippines - Elements of the National Bureau of Investigation arrested 17 foreigners in Caloocan City for their alleged involvement in a fraud ring targeting residents in China and Taiwan.
The NBI said the 13 Chinese and 4 Taiwanese nationals were living in a 3-house compound in Barangay 180 North, Caloocan, which was hidden behind a 10-foot wall.
Inside the houses were landlines, radios and laptop computers, which the suspects allegedly used in telephone fraud activities to swindle money from Taiwanese and Chinese residents.
Authorities said the suspects are facing charges of violating Republic Act 8484 or the Access Devices Regulations Act.
