MANILA, Philippines -- More than a dozen Camiguin officials and employees are facing plunder, malversation and graft charges for the alleged illegal use of public funds and for building a political dynasty at the expense of the poor residents of Camiguin.

The charges were filed before the Office of the Ombudsman by at least seven people, including lawyer Homobono Adaza.

Among the accused are Camiguin Governor JJ Romualdo; his father, Congressman Pedro Romualdo; Mambajao Mayor Luisa Romualdo; and Guinsiliban Vice Mayor Joanne Marie Rubin.

Governor Romualdo dismissed the allegations, saying these are merely rehashed issues.
