Typhoon 'Labuyo' stronger; 7 areas under Signal no. 2
MANILA - Typhoon Labuyo (Utor) has accelerated and intensified slightly as it moved over the West Philippine Sea Monday afternoon, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
As of 4 pm today, the typhoon was located 230 kilometers northwest of Baguio City or 200 km west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur. Packing 150 kph winds and gusts of up to 185 kph, it is forecast to go outside the Philippine area of responsibility by Tuesday afternoon.
Public Storm Warning Signal No. 2 remains in effect over Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Ilocos Sur, Benguet, La Union and Pangasinan.
Storm Warning Signal No. 1 is in effect over Abra, Kalinga, Apayao, Isabela, Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Ilocos Norte, Pampanga, Bataan and Zambales.
PAGASA said the typhoon will enhance the Southwest Monsoon, which will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Western section of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
