51 die in Davao Oriental due to 'Pablo'
In Davao Oriental, the death toll has been reported at 51 due to typhoon "Pablo".
Army information officer, Lieutenant Colonel Lyndon Paniza says most of the fatalities were in the towns of Cateel and Boston.
He adds over 300 hundred houses along the coastline of Lingig were destroyed by storm surges.
Army troops continue retrieval operations in the area. Over 600 families were affected by the typhoon.
Three coastal towns in Davao Oriental were also isolated after a bridge connecting them to the rest of the province collapsed.
Governor Corazon Malanyaon told ANC the coastal towns of Cateel Baganga and Boston were hit hardest by typhoon Pablo.
Malanyaon says nearly all infrastructure in Cateel town were destroyed by the typhoon.
