CAGAYAN DE ORO, Philippines - A state of calamity has been declared in the provinces of Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro in the wake of typhoon Pablo (international codename Bopha), officials said.

Four deaths were recorded in Misamis Oriental, 52 houses were totally damaged while 800 were partially damaged.

More than 16,000 families were affected by typhoon "Pablo," which did the most damage to the municipalities of Salay, Magsaysay and Tagoloan.

Most of the evacuees have returned home but relief operations are continuing for those who still remain at the evacuation centers.

In Cagayan de Oro, one man missing since Tuesday was found dead floating along the fish cages by the shore of Barangay Gusa at around 3 a.m.

Authorities identified the man as Wudphy Zamora, 35.

Zamora was reportedly gathering wood from the Gusa river at the height of the flood, leaving the evacuation center against the advice of the local barangay executive.

The city's disaster risk reduction management council reported three cases of minor injuries.

The city cites P12 million in agricultural damage and P6.5 million worth of damage in infrastructure. -- ANC
