Mother of 'blue baby' appeals for help

Mary Grace Cabildo used to be a factory worker in Manila.
When she got pregnant, she was abandoned by the father of her child. That's why she decided to go home to her province in Cagayan Valley to give birth to John Paul.
But John Paul’s bluish skin, lips and nails all indicated a heart ailment called Tetralogy of Fallot.
The defects occur due to the abnormal development of the heart during the first 8 weeks of pregnancy.
Mary Grace says, she only depends on her father who works in the farm to provide for John Paul’s medication. The needed open-heart surgery of her son is way too costly for them, she adds.
Now that they are here in Manila, Mary Grace admits she has no one to turn to but she keeps her hopes alive that support is on the way for John Paul.
