The Philippine Azkals beat Myanmar's aggressive squad, 1-0, in a friendly match in Yangon, Wednesday.
It was a lackluster start for the Philippines with Myanmar pounding the Azkals defense, but goalkeeper Neil Etheridge kept the White Angels at bay.
Midfielder OJ Porteria broke the impasse, scoring the winning goal in the 78th minute.
The Philippines last beat Myanmar in late November to reach the AFF Suzuki Cup semifinals.
The friendly match is the first game for Azkals this year as they prepare for the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers this March. – ANC World Tonight, Feb. 6, 2013
