Floyd: Arum in the way of Pacquiao fight
MANILA, Philippines – Undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather believes a mega-fight between him and Filipino champion Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao will never happen because of Pacquiao’s promoter, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum.
Mayweather said that the only way the mega-fight can happen is if Pacquiao agrees to leave Arum.
Mayweather used to fight under the banner of Arum’s Top Rank, but they had a bitter falling out when the unbeaten boxer decided that he wanted to take control of his career.
He eventually left Arum and now hires Golden Boy Promotions – Top Rank’s primary rival – to promote his fights on a contractual basis.
Mayweather just extended his unbeaten streak to 43 fights after defeating Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto via unanimous decision last Saturday in Las Vegas (Sunday in Manila). Mornings @ ANC, May 7, 2012
