MANILA, Philippines – Top seed Novak Djokovic showcased his full armory of shots as he sauntered into the Wimbledon quarterfinals with a demolition of compatriot and friend Viktor Troicki.
Djokovic came into the encounter on the back of an 11-match winning streak against his opponent.
Djokovic finished Troicki off to set up a quarter-final against either Richard Gasquet or Florian Mayer.
Meanwhile, Swiss maestro Roger Federer overcame a painful back injury to reach the quarterfinals by beating Xavier Malisse.
The 30-year-old Federer felt his back twinge early in the opening set.
Belgium’s Malisse got a head of steam, up in the third set to win it, but again fizzled in the fourth as Federer sealed the win.
Federer will face Mikhail Youzhny in the next round. Mornings @ ANC, July 3, 2012.
