MANILA, Philippines – Sabine Lisicki, the shock winner over Serena Williams in the fourth round, eased into the Wimbledon semifinals with a win over Kaia Kanepi.
Lisicki broke Kanepi’s serve in the opening game of the match and wrapped up the first set in 33 minutes.
Lisicki will play fourth-seed Agniezska Radwanska of Poland in her second Wimbledon semifinal.
Radwanska, last year’s runner-up, outlasted China’s Li Na in an epic duel that lasted two hours and 43 minutes.
Radwanska staved off a Li fightback, the distraction of two rain interruptions and then squandering seven match points.
Radwanska, the highest ranked player left in the women’s draw, is seeking her first Grand Slam title after losing in three sets to Serena Williams last year. -- Mornings @ ANC, July 3, 2013
