MANILA, Philippines – Mark “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” Muñoz signaled his return to the UFC with a unanimous decision victory over Tim Boetsch in the undercard of UFC 162 Saturday in Las Vegas (Sunday morning in Manila).
Muñoz beat Boetsch with scores of 30-26, 30-27 and 29-28.
It was Muñoz’s first fight since losing to Chris Weidman via technical knockout in July 2012, which triggered a long layoff due to injury.
Over three rounds, Muñoz battered Boetsch’s body, used grueling ground and pound, and defended well against his opponent’s submission attempts.
Muñoz won for the first time since November 2011, when he knocked out Chris Leben at UFC 138.
