MANILA, Philippines – Jamaica’s Usain Bolt retained his Olympic 100-meters title in spectacular style, scorching down the track in 9.63-seconds.
It was the second fastest time ever run, next only to Bolt’s own world record of 9.58-s.
The win proved that Bolt had completely recovered from the hamstring problems, a factor that had given a sliver of hope to his rivals.
World champion Yohan Blake made it a 1-2 finish for Jamaica when he won silver in 9.75 seconds.
Jamaica’s Olympic home during the London Games erupted with cheers and dancing as their countrymen took the gold and silver. -- Mornings @ ANC, August 6, 2012.
