MANILA, Philippines – The UE Red Warriors survived a late rally by the Adamson Falcons to earn their first win of the UAAP Season 75 men’s basketball tournament, 71-66.

Point guard Roi Sumang sparked the Warriors to victory, scoring 16 of his 18 points in the second half to go along with eight assists.

It was the Warriors’ first win in six games this season, while the Falcons drop to 1-5.

Meanwhile, the UST Growling Tigers bucked an upset-minded UP Fighting Maroons, 68-58, to gain a share of the lead in the league standings.

Star big man Karim Abdul had 20 points and 12 rebounds for another strong performance as the Tigers won their fifth straight game.

It is the first time UST has won five straight contests since Pido Jarencio took over as head coach in Season 69.
