Public wake held for 'Macho' Camacho
MANILA, Philippines – Mourners gathered at a public wake for boxing champion Hector “Macho” Camacho, three days after he was taken off life support and pronounced dead.
The wake was held at the Department of Sports and Recreation headquarters in Puerto Rico’s capital of San Juan.
Camacho will now be moved to New York City, where a funeral will be held later this week.
The 50-year-old Camacho was shot in the face during a drive-by shooting last week and was declared brain-dead two days later.
Camacho was taken off life support after a second heart attack on Saturday.
The shooting is still under investigation and no arrests have been made. -- Mornings @ ANC, November 29, 2012
