Chinese tourists quarantined in Hong Kong
HONG KONG - A group of Chinese tourists who travelled on the same flight as a Mexican man who tested positive for swine flu has been quarantined in Hong Kong, the Hospital Authority said Saturday.
A spokesman for the authority said they tracked down the 13 tourists to a hotel in the Tsuen Wan district of the city.
"They were all on the same flight as the Mexican man. We were able to trace them because we had information on where they were staying," he told AFP.
The spokesman said the group had been quarantined in the Princess Margaret Hospital, which the city has designated as its centre for dealing with infectious diseases.
"So far, none of the group has shown flu symptoms," he said.
The Mexican man, who is in a stable condition, was admitted to hospital on Thursday night suffering from a fever and tested positive Friday for the A(H1N1) flu virus.
The hotel in Wan Chai where he had been staying has been isolated, and more than 300 guests and staff ordered to stay there for seven days in a bid to contain the virus.
