TAIPEI - Taiwan's health authorities said early Monday a woman and her baby daughter who had returned several days ago from the United States were the island's first suspected swine flu cases.
"Initial tests showed that the woman and her daughter aged a year and nine months became the first suspected case here," Taiwan's Health Minister Yeh Chin-chuan told reporters.
The duo, who returned from the United States Tuesday last week, have been sent to the Hoping Hospital for isolation and treatment, the minister said.
