ZAMBOANGA CITY- Some residents of Zamboanga City on Tuesday also expressed support on the inauguration of Barrack Obama as the 44th president of the United States.

The Zamboanga City government, which has been the recipient of US-funded projects and a supporter of the presence of American troops in the country, has also expressed congratulations on the new president.

Nung Ajihil, a local columnist who also has two children migrants in US, said Obama symbolized the hopes and dreams of not only the African-American community, but also other minorities residing in America.

Ajihil said Obama realizes the dreams of migrant workers and residents in the United States that they too could be part of history and that they should never give up hope.

Arsenio Gonzales, a businessman in Zamboanga and an official of Movement for Better Zamboanga, meanwhile said that he hopes Obama improves the economy not only in his country but also in the Philippines.

He hopes that good decision-making skills to address the financial crisis will improve the much-dreaded financial setback for the Philippine as well.
